Our Story
Driver Training since 1997
Liz Lafferty : Master Driver Trainer.
Liz our senior instructor, has always loved driving, and has a passion for driver education.
After obtaining her Certificate 4 in Driving Instruction, and undergoing a comprehensive training course with Jeff McDougall from Sydney’s largest driving school – Trent Driving School (Upper North Shore) Sydney in 1997, she really delighted in teaching people the skills to become happier and safer when driving.
She enjoyed 2 years with Trent, then she decided to branch out on her own, with Liz’s Driving School in 1999. Enjoying the challenge of teaching drivers aged from 16 to 89 on the busy Sydney roadways.
Gold Coast local
Since moving to the Gold Coast in 2006, Liz has taken delight in teaching all types of students how to be a safe driver for life, in a fun learning environment, while enjoying the scenery of the beautiful Gold Coast.

The change of name from Liz’s Driving School in 2016, to reflect our pride in a local business providing quality service, Helensvale Driver Training is the premier driving school for the highest level of quality driving tuition in the Helensvale district and surrounds.

Our support team
Liz’s husband John is our Admin and IT specialist, and their daughter Kate (7yo), is the best helper for car washing! We are a family business, who care for every student, and want to help all of our students become safe drivers for life.
Our Approach
Our approach at Helensvale Driver Training, is to produce smooth, safe, confident drivers, with the skills to be able handle any situation on the roads.
We have a Learn to Drive programme that is tailored to each students individual needs. Our curriculum is comprehensive, and guaranteed to set the student up for healthy driving practices – for life!
Too many people approach driver training with the primary aim of passing the driving test. The statistics on new drivers show, that passing the test is not a measure of how safe a new driver will be on the road by themselves.
