What can I expect on my driving lesson?

Our friendly instructor will come to your home, school, or workplace, ask some questions about your driving history, take you on a short initial drive to assess your driving skills, and provide easy ways of improving driving habits.

We are experienced in providing driving lessons to nervous learner drivers, who have never driven before, through to experienced drivers wishing to upgrade their skills.

Our Driving Instructor will never put you in a situation that makes you feel uncomfortable.

We use curriculum based training, which has been developed to instill safe defensive driving habits and boost confidence, driver perception and ability.

Can I crash the instructor's car?

No! Apart from the instructors' vehicle being fitted with dual controls, your instructor is highly trained in predicting learner behaviour. Although not often needed, your instructor is always prepared to calmly take control at any time.

You are in very safe hands!

How many lessons will I need?

Every student has a different learning journey, so whilst it might take 5, 10 or 20 lessons for some, others may need a lot more or a lot less! Helensvale Driver Training aims to give you the maximum knowledge in the minimum amount of driving lessons.

I get flustered easily when I make mistakes, how can you help me?

You're a learner - of course you will make mistakes! The secret is to acknowledge you WILL make mistakes, and see it as a great way to learn how to fix them! Our instructors from Helensvale Driver Training specialize in helping nervous students overcome their fears, to become a calm, confident driver.

Can you help me with the test?

Absolutely! With 21 years experience presenting students for the practical driving test, both here on the Gold Coast, and previously in Sydney, we have all the tips and tricks to make passing the test easy.

What happens on the test?

For the QLD practical driving test, you will be taken out on the roads for approximately 35 minutes. In  that time, you will be asked to do some maneuvers (example: 3 point turn, reverse parallel park, U-turn), driving in traffic (example: hill starts, traffic light procedure), and some higher skill level driving (example: merging on the Motorway).

How do I choose a Driving School?

There are so many Driving Schools out there, how can you make the right decision?

Whilst price is the main factor for many of us when choosing a business, the old saying "If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys" still does apply.

But here are some other questions for potential instructors you could ask;
1. What are your qualifications?
2. How long have you been an instructor?
3. What is your philosophy for teaching novice drivers?
4. What is your pass rate?
5. Have you got the appropriate insurance and Blue card?
6. Why should I go with you?
If you are unsatisfied with any of those answers, don't feel pressured to book with that school.

If you are still uncertain, book 1 and try the lesson with the driving instructor before committing to a lesson package.

I would also recommend reading the driving school reviews from the students themselves.
